Gen Y or no gen y. Business is rapidly evolving and there is far less hesitation to use new "jargons" and thus eliminate the need to classify them as such. With the definitions of new jobs for the new needs of business around the globe, the so-called-new-age mindset just might be the medicine the doctor ordered here. what about acceptability? there is always a critic...

Knowing what keeps employees awake at night sounds very interesting and it definitely can engage them in their work. But the challenge is how do we do that? how do we peep into an employees mind and know the nerve of him? building the culture of trust could be one of the solutions but most of the times employee themselves do not know what goes on in their subconscious mind. If An HR personnel can really crack this code, I guess engaging an employee would become very effective.

Hi Ashwini,
You are right, Building trust is fundamental to building engagement, yet it often fails to gain precedence among employee – strategies… Research by the ‘Great Place to Work Institute’, a global workplace consulting form that compiles best workplaces lists in 29 countries, shows that trust is the bedrock of a positive organizational culture…
Take the example of Netfix, the world’s largest online movie rental service places a high degree of trust among its employees. It allows its employees to determine and choose their compensation packages and stock options. It also allows its employees to take unlimited vacations. In return company expects work to be completed as per schedule
and high performance. ‘Netfix’s approach rests on the assumption that the health of a company’s relationships with its customers is inextricably linked to the health of its internal culture.’ The company extends this trust to its customers, where it does not charge them for a lost movie as long as their subscription account is active and they do not have a history of losing discs. Such a strong culture of trust has helped Netfix to remain ahead
of the curve despite severe competition.
